You know I love a good designer dupe—and this $120 Joss & Main vase lookalike was too fun not to share. I originally painted this vase in Fusion’s Jet Black a while back and aged it with my homemade liming glaze (you can find that recipe here).
But when I found this perfectly-shaped piece again, I knew it was time for a refresh.
Here’s how I transformed it:
1. Base Layer:
The vase started in Jet Black from Fusion Mineral Paint, which gave me a great foundation to build on.
2. Opaque Layering:
Using a chip brush and water, I applied opaque layers of:
• Cathedral Taupe
• Algonquin
I worked slowly, dabbing excess with a shop towel whenever it got too thick. This layering built the perfect aged, mineral-washed texture.
3. Metallic Finish:
Once fully dry, I went in very sparingly with Fusion’s Vintage Gold Metallic using a chip brush—just enough to add a little depth and dimension without overpowering the earthy tones.
And just like that—$10 of paint turns into a $120 statement piece.
